Hi! My name is Thijs and I am

a graphic designer.

passionate about typography.

a web developer.

a fervent keyboardist.

a student Web Science at Eindhoven University of Technology.

an amateur photographer.

passionate about stagecraft.

fascinated by the creative possibilities of technology.

In a world that is changing more rapidly than ever, nothing is more important than delivering a timeless product.

A website is like a rock band: it’s not about making all the elements yourself, it’s about combining them. Do you know a band that plays on self-made guitars? What makes a band unique—and good—is the combination. Combination of instruments, of notes, of musicians. For a website the same thing holds: it’s not about the tools you use, nor about building everything from scratch. It’s about combining existing things.

This is where I come in.

I have a good feeling in typography and the design of user interactions. I also value semantics. I believe designing for the web is not about the looks, but mainly about the meaning and structure of information. I investigate things ‘out there’ and put them together to create a great product.

My technical skillset consists of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, PHP, SQL, and object-oriented programming in general. Furthermore, I have experience with graphical software like Photoshop and Illustrator. But perhaps most importantly, I have a large motivation and willingness to learn. I pick up things quickly.
